Artist's Description
This is the first thing I painted after returning from 11 days of sacred sights, ceremony, and traveling to the depths of my soul and beyond on Sacred Voyage Retreat - Peru. We traversed the mountains, flying into Cusco, staying in Urubamba, and visiting Machu Picchu. I spent a lot of time admiring the clouds on our hikes, and sitting on the bus with my jaw dropped open as we passed one glorious mountain view after the next. "Mountain Light" captures the energy of the light coming into my heart, as it passed over the mountains. This painting is for anyone who feels like they could use some of that light, coming from the source, piercing through the clouds, to lighten up the heart space. It can bring health and vitality to a wounded heart; healing, uplifting and preparing you for your heart's most joyous calling. At 18x24", this acrylic painting is full of texture. About Jackie Ryan
I have never seen artmaking as a choice, but rather as a necessary and obvious part of living. What I am creating is always changing, but my commitment to creativity is an inevitable constant. The way I see it, the process of artmaking helps to integrate the endless information coming into the brain with the already present and always working imagination. It helps to process past experiences and vision future ones, all the while giving my mind, body and spirit a pathway to actually BE in the present moment of creation. As I paint, I notice my breathing slows down. I enter a zone of concentration that last hours longer than I can concentrate on any other activity. Even though my left arm is doing most of the work and I am often for hours...
